The last post on this blog! It was a great ride while it lasted. I'm not going to say I didn't want it to end. The project was enjoyable, but the end of the project resembles summer! Summer is amazing! I hope you learned something about me or about television through this blog. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I can nearly taste summer, yum!

The Last Blog
The last post on this blog! It was a great ride while it lasted. I'm not going to say I didn't want it to end. The project was enjoyable, but the end of the project resembles summer! Summer is amazing! I hope you learned something about me or about television through this blog. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I can nearly taste summer, yum!
Action!
To make a good show or program you really got to have everything. You need the good lights. The great cameras. Last but not least the person in charge. Thats where "action" comes into play. A good director can really make a huge impact on the show. They run the show. They can make or break the show.

Camera
Cameras are something that are getting better everyday. You can get a camera that is like 10 ounces. The professional ones are roughly 10 pounds still. They are really nice camera that you can do so many things with, and make the shot just as you want it to. Inter sense has introduced a Vcam. A Vcam is a virtual l camera. You say what is a virtual camera? Well it is a camera that is used for animating. It makes a virtual world for the camera man. This gives the producers of making the animation a better feel and a new look to making animations.

Lights!
Unless you are familiar with using a camera you would never think that lighting it so important. You will be so surprised how hard it can be to light a room well. You can think lighting is so simple, just turn on the lights. There is actually a professional job made just for lighting a room properly for a show/ program or what ever needs to be lit. To get rid of all the shadows is quite the challenge. You can have great shots and have poor lighting that can ruin the shot completely. There is so many different kinds of lights. Small, big, hanging from the roof, shining up from the ground. Lights... Camera.... ACTION!
Television may fade away...
Their is so many different ways to see the things that are broadcasted on television. You can watch them on your phone, on your computer, and many more ways. Television is funded by the advertisement. With out people watching their commercials, they wont pay the TV station to broadcast it for them. Instead they'll put their ads on a website or something relative to it. I don't watch television very much, but their is always something good to watch. HBO and other paid programs like this are great. Although If the down fall of television goes through, the only thing we may have it paid programs. Television is still strong, but this can happen.
P.S. television stations are getting smart and making their own websites like the one in the picture. Television shall prevail!

STRESS!!
The television field can have a ton of stress. Everything is so precise, everything needs to be executed perfectly for a show to operate smoothly. Mr.Doster always says "what ever can go wrong, will go wrong" Most of the time you are trying to work around the problems to get your work done. In the studio i operate it we always seem to have lighting and audio problems. It seems like the microphones we buy seem to break everyday, or something goes wrong with them. So much stress is put on you to get your show done smoothly and on time. It sure does feel good when you put together a good show that went smoothly and came out great. You get to look back at it and say it wasn't that bad, even though it seemed like hell.

Listening...
Listening is so important in a lot of cases. As a Technical Director you need to listen very carefully to the director. He is the one guiding you on what you need to do. If you don't hear him the show can completely crash. Their is a lot of cues you need to listen for. A cue is something said to let you know you have to do something. Some of the cues are: Take it,fade it, lose it, take camera (insert #), FTB(fade to black), take with OTS(over the shoulder), take with graphic or lower third(the name the pops up on the bottom of the screen). Their is many more cues but we would be here awhile if i listed them all. "Listening is key"

A day in the Studio
Every day in television production 2 we make a morning show for the next day in 4th period. On good days it takes around 30 minutes to make. Some bad days it can take the whole hour and a half. Their is a ton of jobs in the studio that need to be done correctly. Some of them off the top of my head is: TD, Director, Audio, Teleprompter, and camera operators. All of the jobs need to be done correctly for a good show.

Brief History on TV
Television has only been around of about a 100 years or so. The first time the word Television was used in 1900. At around 1928 the first TV's were sold to the public, they had very bad quality(They were mechanical). We use electronic TV's today. Around 1945 is when TV's really became very public. 1951 is when the first public colored TV was released. That is just some of the key parts to the history of TV. TV has came a long way, the future holds many great possibilities.

Intro
This blog will explain some aspects of television production. For example what it takes to run a show for a program. I'm currently a Technical Director(for school). What is a TD? Well it is the person who basically runs all the technical aspects of a show. When your watching a TV show and you seed different camera shots, the TD hit the button to do that. Or when someone's name pops up at the bottom of the screen. The technical has a lot of pressure on their shoulders, especially when your doing a live production. In this blog I will speak about a good amount to things relating to TV and how it is produced.
P.S. The picture is sort of what the machine I use, except that one looks to be portable and a little less complex.
